About Money Moves

Money Moves exists for one simple reason: money numbers shouldn't be intimidating. Exchange rates, conversion fees, and crypto prices affect travelers, freelancers, online shoppers, and families sending money home — yet the tools that explain them are often cluttered, ad-choked, or written for traders.

What this site does

  • Live currency converter. Convert between 166 world currencies using current mid-market rates — the same benchmark rate banks start from before adding their markup. Try the live converter.
  • Popular rate snapshot. A quick table of major currencies against the US dollar, refreshed from live data.
  • Top-10 crypto tracker. The largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization with live USD prices and 24-hour change. View the live crypto tracker.
  • Plain-English explainers. Short, jargon-free guides to what exchange rates are, why they move, and how mid-market rates differ from what your bank offers you.

Our data sources

Currency rates come from the free ExchangeRate-API feed, which publishes mid-market rates for 166 world currencies — including the Pakistani Rupee, Indian Rupee, Saudi Riyal, UAE Dirham, and Bangladeshi Taka — refreshed daily.

Crypto prices come from CoinGecko's free market data API, refreshed every time you load the page or press refresh. Because the free tier is shared, you may occasionally hit a rate limit; when that happens we show you the last good prices with a timestamp instead of leaving you guessing.

What we are not

Money Moves is an educational reference site, not a financial advisor. We don't recommend buying, selling, or holding any currency or cryptocurrency, we don't offer personalized advice, and we don't execute trades. Currency and crypto markets carry real risk — our explainers are there to help you understand the numbers, not to tell you what to do with your money.

Who runs this site

Money Moves is an independent project run by a small team that believes financial information should be free, fast, and readable on any phone. We have no affiliation with ExchangeRate-API or CoinGecko beyond using their public data feeds. Questions, corrections, or suggestions? We'd genuinely like to hear them — head to the contact page.
